Internet advertisement in Bulgaria in 2007

The news site Internet Reklama announced that internet advertising revenues in Bulgaria in 2007 reached Euro 6.4 mln. The expectations for this year are for increase by 50 to 70 percent. In comparison the amount in 2006 rose by 88 percent on yearly basis and was Euro 3.5 mln. One of the main reasons for this drastic jump is continuing growth in the users in internet.

Internet becomes a preferable advertising channel and soon will be the cheapest one, replacing the television, forecast the experts. More companies plan different campaigns using only internet.

Unfortunately Bulgaria is behind the international trends in the on line advertisement. The main reason is that the number of Bulgarians, using internet, is still half less compared to the users in Western Europe. A problem was found in the number of qualified staff, which can develop advertising strategies for the on line market. For the time being just about 2.5-3.5 percent of the total advertising budget of a company is allocated for on line advertisement.

Bulgaria is really behind the world rates in the internet advertisement, but on the other hand you can discover here new fields for development in this direction, that is good for the competition, said Ognian Mladenov, co-owner of IT social network – dao.bg. According to him, this relatively new way for advertisement in Bulgaria is extremely interactive. The share of on line advertisement increased by 80 percent for the last year, and the most active in internet advertisement were the banks and the importers of cars. Marketers large and small will have to accept digital media as the fulcrum of any marketing strategy. The emergence of new platforms, including broadband video, rich internet applications, mobile and social media promise to deliver new benefits for consumers, and create exciting new venues for marketers to realize value in digital media, pointed out Ognian Mladenov.
